Nibi Walks with Sharon Day
Indigenous Peoples Task Force

In February 2020, Sharon Day came to Arizona to lead a Nibi Walk from the headwaters of the Salt River to the confluence of the Salt and Gila Rivers. Nibi Walks are Indigenous-led ceremonies to pray for the water. Every step is taken in prayer and gratitude for water. Sharon Day was accompanied by a group of Indigenous youth, as well as other Water Walkers from her home state of Minnesota. At the headwaters they joined a group with the Museum of Walking, collected a pail of water and began their journey. For the next 5 days they walked in relay 160 miles across the desert, together with the water. Remembering and holding Indigenous relatives who are lost, those never found and the loved ones who carry them still. Ninga Izhichige Nibi Onji. I will do it for the water. Chi-migwetch Sharon and all walkers for the guidance, strength & Asemaa you offer the world everyday.
